SMH Catches up with RA on Brumbies prognosis

By johnboy - 30 April 2006 3

Back on 21-APR-06 I gazed into my crystal ball and predicted that the Matt Giteau deal was the death knell of the Brumbies in the ACT.

Today the Sydney Morning Herald is claiming that insight as an “EXCLUSIVE”.

To be fair they do have quotes from Brumbies CEO Andrew Fagan who obviously no longer consider the Brumbies representatives of the ACT as much as residents.

We have great community and government support in Canberra and if it remains we would always prefer to stay but the financial future of the organisation is paramount.”

Melbourne stands ready to assist “the organisation” in any way possible. How kind of them.

Oh, yes, great game last night.

What’s Your opinion?

Nicely put Kimba and yet the Government are upping the offer for an entire team of prostitutes in the shape of the Kangaroos – an entire “team for hire’ appealing to less than 10000 Canberrans, I’d much rather they put more money into the Raiders and Brumbies who at least have some local ‘connections’, the Kangaroos have none.

It’s not the first time that it has been suggested that the Brumbies will dump Canberra in search of the mighty dollar. Canberra does not have the best record for supporting its national teams at the best of times. If the Brumbies have a few lean years watch the supporter base disappear!

As for Giteau – good on him, but it just reaffirms my view that most professional footballers are simply ‘prostitutes’. I for one will not be too disappointed if he fails over there.

Whoever put that ‘exclusive’ tag on, is a clown. Not only did RA raise the possibility, I have read it in a number of publications since.
That said, this is just another case of the SMH having a go at the Brumbies, I sincerely hope we get to meet the Tahs in the semis and smash ’em.
