If you’re in any way involved in the IT operations, functions or decision-making of your organisation, get ready to head to Canberra’s Hotel Realm next month for the year’s must-attend event on the IT calendar.

With a full day of informative presentation sessions from subject matter experts, demonstrations and product showcases from world-leading technology vendors, JuiceIT promises a captivating event that challenges conventional thinking, questions the status quo, and embraces new ideas.

But JuiceIT is not just for IT Managers and CIOs – it’s for all IT decision-makers, including those in purchasing, procurement, engagement or implementation within their organisations, according to Garrett MacDonald from event organisers Data#3.

“Technology moves fast, and it can be hard to get a hold of what you should lean into, what’s truly valuable, and what can solve your business challenges,” he says.

JuiceIT attracts 2000 delegates across the country. This year is its second in Canberra and registrations have already exceeded last year’s numbers.

“There is demand for clarity in the tech space,” Garrett says.

Equal parts trade show and symposium, JuiceIT’s lineup of speakers this year includes former Lonely Planet Executive Director and CTO Gus Balbontin.

“We’re excited to have Gus. He has a unique perspective on digitisation and can speak to it from a consumer sense, business sense and government sense. He does a good job of bringing it back to the real-world experience of migrating Lonely Planet in the early days from its book-based ideology to a digital ideology, dealing with stakeholders and shifting mindsets,” Garrett says.

“Tech can be a tough place to be within any organisation, but as Gus’s presentation highlights, in a time when tech is advancing so quickly, it’s also a hugely exciting space and a critical function of any successful organisation in this day and age.”

In addition to Gus’ keynote, platinum sponsors Microsoft will outline how their AI technologies can be used to solve business challenges.

Participants will hear experts speak on what’s required to get an organisation ready for the oncoming tsunami of AI technologies and what this rapidly emerging landscape might mean for cyber risks.

Other fascinating topics include how businesses can ensure they’ll be able to get operational fast in the event of a disaster, how to bridge the gap between efficiency and sustainability, and the tangible effects of AI in the workplace.

“We term AI as a foundational shift in technology – like the internet in the 90s and cloud technology, which took off around 2010. Like them, AI is such a pervasive technology that sits among all other technology sets,” Garrett says.

“The technology is powerful and good, but if you rush into throwing it over an environment without the right governance in place, it can land you in hot water.

“We want customers to leave JuiceIT with a better understanding of where AI fits within their organisations – if it fits at all – by showcasing a range of things they don’t normally have exposure to and helping them evaluate the technologies that are right for them, which they can adopt at the speed they need.”

JuiceIT puts visitors in front of experts in relevant fields, as well as members of their local technological community.

The vision is to “harness the power of people and technology to show participants how to elevate their technology journey to the next level”.

“For that reason, peer-to-peer engagement is a big feature of JuiceIT,” Garrett says.

“It brings together the local tech community to foster ideas and conversations, build relationships with everyone in the industry, collaborate to solve the shared challenges they’re seeing in their businesses and nut out how to best overcome them.”

JuiceIT 2024 Canberra takes place on Thursday, 5 September, from 8 am to 4 pm at Hotel Realm.
