Merry Christmas, Canberra! Bringing some festive cheer this week will be such acts as Scroggin, pictured above, playing with their old friend Lackadaisical Harris at Smith’s Alternative from 4 pm on Saturday!
You may think that the ol’ CBR would be too busy snoozing this weekend to have such a swag of gigs going on, but you’d be wrong! Just observe Wednesday night; grunge-gazers The Wrst are putting on a mighty show including Kilroy and Alphamale, while the Phoenix will host Jack Livingston and Azim Zain at their weekly acoustic show.
Friday sees a bunch of Christmassy shows at Harmonie German Club, The Basement and even the Gang Gang Cafe in Downer, while Shoeb Ahmad will be opening for experimental electronica duo Winter Witches at Commonwealth Park. Not only will Scroggin be playing Saturday, but The Front has a big lineup in Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, Frat Boy Hedonists, Sarky Bastard and more from 7 pm, while loop pedal ninja Kenta Hayashi will grace the stage at Smith’s for what sounds like a fascinating and strange show. Plus, the Chisholm Tavern will play host to a band called The Hyperdomes – as far as band names goes, it can’t get much better!
