The Environment Directorate has given word that trout season is on!
The rainbow and brown trout fishing season opens at midnight tonight, Friday 4 October 2013, in time for the Labour Day long weekend, and will remain open until the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June 2014.
The Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate would like to remind anglers that the rainbow and brown trout has a minimum allowable size of 25 centimetres. Minimum allowable sizes have been set to ensure all fish taken are sexually mature, allowing the fish the opportunity to breed before being harvested by anglers.
A maximum of five rainbow and/or brown trout are permitted to be taken on any one day. The number of rainbow and brown trout taken from public waters by recreational anglers is limited to ensure sustainable populations of these fish remain, while guaranteeing fair access to the fishery for all anglers.
