Here’s the original story about the Inner North Community Fair.

Got some more details about who and what you can see at this event. It’s on Sunday 16 May from 11am til 3pm at Hawdon Oval in Dickson. It’s organised by the ACT Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water to promote awareness of their plans to create a wetlands area in Dickson, linking to the O’Connor and Lyneham wetlands.

I’ll start with the most important part of any event: food!
Rosnay Organic Wines, pizzas, bread, curries, Real Chai ( oh I am SO there!), vegetarian food, plus stalls from Choku Bai Jo farmer’s outlet and ANU Food Co-op and the Vegetarian Society and Green Wares biodegradable disposable cups and plates.

I shall then waddle over to listen to some music and let the curry and chai settle. Canberra Musicians Club are running the show, so I’m sure the sound quality will be good and the acts varied.

If the kids are in need of fun, I’ll take them to the Unicorn Rides in the Enchanted Wetlands area. There will be prizes for the best recycled craft at Playdates for the Planet, and storytime later in the afternoon. There’s also boomerang throwing, and eco-friendly gear for babies. Over in the Bizarre Bazaar, you’ll find market stalls selling handmade paper, fabric wall art, handmade jewellery, pet reptiles, chook runs, and more.

There’s also a ton of information stalls: ACT Greens, solar power, Scouts and Girl Guides, National Trust, church groups and op shops, pedal power, recycling, electric vehicles, sustainable housing, organic gardening, water tanks, natural cleaning products, Sea Shepherd, SEE Change, sustainable population, and more.

Oh, and there will be daleks. I do not know why, how, or who’s responsible. But consider yourselves warned. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated into a more sustainable community…
