I’ve walked past Mocan & Green Grout a lot but always found it way too busy to indulge in a coffee or a meal. This week I was in the area for a meeting and spied a few empty tables and I couldn’t have moved faster to take a seat!
While outside is a beautiful area to sit the tables do fill up with people ordering take away coffees during the week and on weekends their snatched up just as quickly by diners.
Inside is extremely cosy, there is some table seating and then some short table and chair seating which is where I sat. It was slightly uncomfortable so I wouldn’t suggest choosing those seats if you were bunkering in for a long time.
I was served straight away with my coffee order taken then I was left with the menu. Their breakfast menu is very interesting, with just the right amount of options. On this occasion I went with the smashed eggs, mushrooms, goats curd and black garlic.
My coffee came out in about 5 or so minutes, followed closely behind my meal.
Straight away the presentation of the dish was exquisite. It’s not often that breakfast can be presented beautifully but this certainly was.
I dug straight in and the flavours were wonderful, just the right combination and the goats curd wasn’t overpowering the eggs and mushrooms. It was just the right amount of food, I wasn’t overwhelmingly full at the end.
The coffee was also great, nice and strong but really smooth, no bitterness. After I finished my meal they also came around checking if I wanted a second coffee which I happily obliged!
Overall a really great experience! I completely understand why it’s such a busy little spot, they definitely have a gem in this one in New Acton.
