Recently went to the Canberra Croation Soccer Club at Deakin looking forward to a nice lunch with some retired mates. Signed them in, only to notice the staircase was blockaded with a short note saying the Chinese restaurant was closed indefinitely.

Last year they were bluing with the acting manager, but won that round.

Is this round two?

Mmmm Yum cha.

I’m going to throw in support for yum cha on the north side of the lake.

Prince Palace on Emu Bank, Belconnen. $20 lunch, all you can eat.
It isn’t a spacious place, but the round tables are accommodating and they have those turn plates, which makes yum cha experience that much more fun.

Service is above average. The staff are friendly enough.
There isn’t any special dish to speak of, but they do have the most common dishes, including dumpling, dim sim, chicken feet and intestines (well, I like them!).

A good, decent, yum cha experience.

The only drawback was that one of the spring rolls had a strand of hair in it… It’s probably proof that it’s home made (come on, as if you’d never seen hair in your dish in your life).

Regardless, I’ll be back. Especially now that Dickson doesn’t have a decent yum cha any more… A bit sad as it is the little Chinatown of Canberra.

Thanks Growling Ferret and timtamrulz. Now you mention it, I suggested they amend some other signage they had behind their till last year, as it certainly didn’t convey their intended message. 😉

RiotACT to the rescue.

No big loss if it was closed, i ate there a year ago and there were small peices of glass in our yamcha. All they did to compensate us was offer a free breadroll each.

This post scared me, so I called them up- and they’re still open!

Mind you- a couple of Sundays ago I saw the same sign up and then went to yum cha the next week with work.

I think they need to stop using indefinitely in their signs!

It was open last Friday lunch. I still feel full…
