John Hargreaves has announced that he’s taking the fireworks issue to cabinet for a decision on their continued consumer use at the Queen’s Birthday Weekend post 2010.
- “The general public will be permitted to purchase and use consumer fireworks over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June this year,” Mr Hargreaves said.
“The fireworks industry is required to order stock well ahead of the long weekend and if fireworks are ever to be banned the Government must give sufficient notice.
“I will be putting a paper to my Cabinet colleagues in the coming months to make a decision once and for all about the future of consumer fireworks in the Territory.
