Canberra semi-professional cycling outfit, Team QUON, is poised to make history at the Stromlo Criterium Track this Wednesday with an anticipated clean sweep of all race categories.
The ACT Criterium Championships, which started in November last year, will culminate in the final race of the season on Wednesday night.
Team QUON is strongly positioned to win the teams, squad and individual point score competition—a feat unprecedented since the competition began.
Team QUON’s Director Sportif, Paul Smith, said the finale could prove to be a ‘tour de force’ in all grades.
“This has been a great season for Team QUON. We’ve had consistently strong performances from all of our riders and are at the top of the three point score competitions.
“This is a significant achievement given the extremely high standard of club racing in the ACT,” Smith said.
“Expect to see some high octane racing as the other teams attempt to knock us off the top spot.”
Team QUON will also show its softer side at the race as they don pink jerseys in support of breast cancer awareness.
So far the team has raised $3,000 for the cause which includes the recent auction of Michael Rogers’ cycling jersey he wore at the 2009 Tour de France.
Racing starts at 5.30pm this Wednesday, 24 February.
