The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Shane Rattenbury, is calling on the ACT Government to expand the consultation on their compensation reform package:
Following today’s announcement of a ten working day consultation period for two important reform bills, the ACT Greens have urged the Government to follow proper process and give all stakeholders the time they need to have their say.
“The Government has today proposed just ten working days for consultation on what are two significant reforms relating to road accident insurance and workers compensation,” Mr Rattenbury said.
“The Bills significantly change the ability of injured people to get compensation and involve complicated changes to statutory and common law compensation schemes with many potential consequences.

With the wrath of the legal profession descending on a Government giving every appearance of having headed to the coast for the school holidays it’s no surprise they want to bang it through quickly. Shame they didn’t line up the numbers in the assembly first.
