PJ O’Brien knows how to get a Blues party started. His fat and funky fretwork has been turning heads across Australia, USA, UK and Asia. Along with frequent flyer points, PJ has gathered a swag of awards including: Blues Song of the Year, WA Music Awards (WAMIs); Music Oz Blues Artist of the Year; Sydney Blues Society Performer of the Year; Best New Talent, Song of the Year and Group of the Year at the ‘Chain’ Australian Blues Awards.

Driven by PJ’s searing Chicago/Texas style guitar and smooth vocals the PJ O’Brien Band’s brand of blues exude a retro and modern feel simultaneously, delivering award-winning songwriting and spine-tingling dynamics. The engine room of this sensational band features one of Sydney’s finest rhythm sections in the legendary Al Britton (Bondi Cigars) and Dave Fester (Glenn Cardier and the Sideshow) who combine their wealth of experience to effortlessly build infectious grooves song after song.

The PJ O’Brien Band are fantastic ambassadors for Australian Blues music and PJ looks forward to taking the band and his new all-original release Jefferson Blues to Canberra Blues fans when he hosts the Canberra Blues Society’s February Jam.

When: Sunday 15 February 2015 (monthly jams are held on the third Sunday of each month)
Time: 2pm to 5.30pm
Where: The Harmonie German Club, 49 Jerrabomberra Avenue Narrabundah
