Well it’s past midnight and I have to work tommorrow so this will be brief.
My primary draw for going to the Phoenix tonight was Bloodnut wanting to trade the download of podcasts 1-10 for a pint. In the final analysis he more than repaid that debt despite my best efforts. Thanks dude. Anyone else who wants the podcasts in CD form should email johnboy@the-riotact.com and be prepared to buy me a pint.
Fire On The Hill and Caution Horses both played great sets.
But on the night the Fuelers blew all before them with a set of rockabilly that was both insanely humourous and also madly talented. Dresed like yokels they combined musical virtuousity with sheer good time rock and roll and then added a wicked edge of comedy. There was a moment in the set where known drummers from many different bands literally ran to catch the action.
I missed Changeable Dan, on account off having to work today. But they rocked the Grail last Friday and a review can’t be far away.
Worth noting that unlike many 2XX fundraisers they got a good crowd in, and had arranged Carlton to donate the sales of Carlton Draft so I’m pretty sure money was actually raised.
