7.30 ACT on the ABC
Friday July 4th

  1. STANHOPE REDUX – the former ACT Chief Minister and now Administrator of Christmas Island returned briefly to Canberra this week. In an interview with Chris Kimball, Stanhope speaks of rights and refugees and his beloved arboretum.
  2. INDIGENOUS SERVICE – the most senior Indigenous RAF reserve officer ( Group Captain Lisa Jackson Pulver) is also a Professor of Public Health – she wants her impressive career to be an example for young indigenous kids who’re told they can’t be what they want to be. She and others including Mick Dodson are calling for recognition of the roles played by Indigenous Australians in the conflicts since the Boer War.
  3. COURT CONCERT – the often forbidding High Court building can turn into a concert venue that is warm and uplifting – this concert is for choral, trumpet and recorder.
  4. BIRD MAN – Tobias Hayashi is a young science graduate with an interest in birds. His photos are sublime. He also does cityscapes and one of them features in the plasma on set this week.
  5. CLOSER – a new art gallery at the old Ginninderra School house. Isla Patterson is the artist.
