The University of Canberra final of this year’s Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT) will see seven candidates have only 180 seconds to present their thesis topic and its significance, in a way that’s engaging and uses language for an intelligent but non-specialist audience.
Other topics include the challenges of access to education for students with chronic illness, how a sustainable palm oil industry could be built through high-quality employees and the strategic partnership between Australia and Thailand.
“The Three Minute Thesis competition is a fantastic opportunity for our students to practice presenting their work, whilst giving them the chance to share their significant discoveries with the community and with people who are not familiar with their field,” Professor Frances Shannon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (research) said.
“The competition showcases the work of the University’s up-and-coming researchers, in areas that are exciting and challenging and could potentially have a real-world impact,” she added.
