Today Joy Burch officially opened the new state-of-the-art Franklin Early Childhood School.
I imagine this was somewhat confusing to the students and staff of Franklin Early Childhood School, as they’ve been working/learning there since February.
Ms Burch said the $30.1 million school, along with the $50.4 million Neville Bonner school that also opened this year, are examples of the ACT Labor Government investing in our city’s future.
“The ACT consistently tops the nation with our education results across primary and secondary students, and through the ACT Labor Government’s ongoing investment in education I am confident we will maintain these high standards,” said Ms Burch.
The school also has a 120-place childcare centre on-site operated by Anglicare. Ms Burch said she envisaged the school becoming an important hub for the growing Franklin community.
“The school will support integrated service delivery for the community. This will include vacation care; parenting programs and support groups; playgroups; health programs such as maternal and child health clinics; physiotherapy and speech therapy.”
“The Franklin Early Childhood School will be an important hub for the Franklin and Gungahlin communities for years to come and I am proud to have officially launched this School,” concluded Ms Burch.
