Witnesses sought to alleged backyard Boxing Day assault

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and information after a man reportedly assaulted an elderly woman in the backyard of her O’Connor residence in December.

At about 5 am on Thursday, 26 December 2024, the man allegedly entered the woman’s backyard and assaulted her before jumping over the victim’s rear fence and leaving the area a short time later.

The woman was later taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man is believed to be between 30 and 35 years of age and is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a slim build and approximately 183 cm (six foot) tall. He was also wearing a maroon top at the time of the incident.

Following a thorough investigation, police are now asking anyone with information in relation to this incident, or who may have noticed a man matching this description in the O’Connor area on Boxing Day, to come forward.
