Discretionary powers are not what I’m talking about. Turning a blind eye to an enormous number of our road rules is not using discretionary powers. Discretionary powers are used AFTER the offender has been pulled over.

Yes, doubling the road safety team is a step in the right direction but until the attitude of particular politicians and law enforcers changes, we will be gaining very little ground.

Twice as many drivers will be booked for failing to indicate. 2 X 0 = 0
Twice as many drivers will be booked for driving with their fog lights on in clear weather. 2 X 0 = 0
Twice as many drivers will be booked for obscuring their vision with a GPS or mobile holder. 2 X 0 = 0
Twice as many drivers will be booked for crossing solid lines, eg: Bowen Dr at Brisbane Ave. 2 X 0 = 0

Drivers will only become safer when they take their right to drive more seriously. With so many of our road rules being “optional” we will continue to have a high proportion of complacent, risk taking and ignorant drivers. Only once ALL of our road rules are enforced will we see drivers paying more attention to the way they drive.

My oath. And add to the list tailgaters, no tailgaters will be booked, as usual. Ever. The article/press release made it clear that, as usual, they were going after the easy stuff. Speeding, mobile phones, and being drunk/stoned. Yay. Actual dangerous drivers, that is aggressive, unskilled, intimadatory drivers can go on doing what they do.

Haven’t seen a single cop on the roads so far this weekend.

Yes, actually. Counted 4 or 5 people being talked to/booked on one trip up and down part of GDE and the parkway today. Many more than I would normally see.

Well they were not there on Friday or Saturday, so guess that is an improvement. Also not doing anything any day on Street Drive roadworks debacle zone.

I would of thought it was up to Judges to remove these drivers from the roads. The police can only book them and let them go .
