Local Zine Scene?

They can be pretty cool, I like picking random ones up around the place. Try coffee shops/pubs/uni/CIT etc (where young people hang out).

My daughter’s artwork featured in a zine recently (produced by another student at Narrabundah College) but I’m not sure how often it will be produced or whether it was just a one-off thing.

The National Portrait Gallery ran a workshop last weekend which was zine related. I think the aim was to produce a self portrait based on favourite magazines/websites/social networking pages etc.

Not sure whether there is much of a “zine scene” here in Canberra. My daughter would more than likely know – I’ll ask and get back to you.

Read something in the ANU student paper woroni (woroni.com.au) that there is, and they held a zine fair a few months back at Gorman House. I don’t know anything more, but I’m sure if you don’t get munch response here, you might get in touch with the author of that article.

Seemed like a pretentious wankfest by the way.
