The Brumbies are reporting that the accursed boot of Johnny Wilkinson and a miserable scrummaging performance have seen our brave touring lads go down 20-6 against the millionaire factory of Toulon.
- England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson was the chief destroyer for the home side, kicking four penalty goals before he was replaced in the 59th minute.
Wilkinson’s chore was made easier with the CA Brumbies gifting a number of opportunities on the back of a problematic set piece. In total the ACT lost seven tighthead scrums and gave away an additional five free kicks on their own feed.
Despite a 1-3 tour record head coach Andy Friend reckons it’s been a great bonding experience for the younger players and puts them three months ahead of their preparations for 2010.
