Canberra fashionistas are getting excited about yet another addition to the local fashion calendar this March. Dubbed Bespoke, this event will showcase some of the region’s most talented designers, make up artists, models and hair stylists in a one night only show in the New Acton precinct.

The event is being organised by Janette Lenk, Sofia Polak and Daniella Jukic from The Fashion Vault, Samara Gentle from Big Ink Magazine and hair stylist Leslie Henshaw.
“We’re passionate about creating a connection between the designer and the consumer, helping them build a sustainable relationship through love of fashion”, Samara says.
With a slew of fashion events like FASHFEST, Hustle&Scout and Fash n Treasure, event organisers decided to do something a little different to keep their audience interested. Differentiating themselves from other industry events, Bespoke will sell garments straight off the catwalk at designer stalls.
“For all of us, this is the next step to create an event to showcase creative industries. It’s a fantastic concept, consumers can buy what they see straight off the runway,” Janette says.

The event organisers are also passionate about sharing their love for the creative arts with others who are less fortunate. A percentage of ticket and garment sales will be donated to Kuya Collaborative, a charity that provides life skills to poverty-stricken community members in Manila through facilitated training programs. These programs teach participants sewing, hairdressing and English teaching skills, empowering them to gain employment and support themselves and their families.
“We’re so fortunate to have access to education here, by supporting a charity that provides education to those less fortunate, we’re given them tools to create a career and chase a dream,” Leslie says.
With the addition of a live auction from a real estate auctioneer including designer prizes and restaurant vouchers, Bespoke is set to be a unique experience for savvy consumers.
With only 100 tickets available to the public, the runway sale will provide shoppers with an exclusive-feel experience, complete with sparkling wine, canapés and goodie bags.
