The guitar and voice of The Bondi Cigars is bringing it back home at the Harmonie German Club this Saturday 11 April.
Although Shane Pacey’s other band, The Bondi Cigars, is still going strong, Shane recently felt the strong urge to revisit the music that turned him on when he first started playing, such as the guitar playing/singing of Peter Green and the short sharp style coming out of Chess Records in the 50s and 60s.
He is joined by Paul Blasi on bass and Dave Fester on drums.
Paul is one of this town’s most respected players, with an expanse of knowledge and talent. Paul has played with many great artists, including B’Dussy, Leanne Paris Band, Slewfoot and The Bluetongues.
Dave has had three decades of rhythm, blues and funk – constantly touring and fortunate to have shared the stage with many of the country’s greats.
“The main aim is to create something totally different to The Cigars,” Shane says.
A no-nonsense trip through blues’ back pages, all played with Shane’s customary attack and passion. Very evident on The Shane Pacey Blues Trio CD – “Repayment”.
The band’s goal is to produce a genuine blues sound that aims for the soul and the feet.
“Don’t expect a polite little band tapping away in the corner,” says Shane. And he means it, too.
