ABC is reporting that the NCA has started its yearlyThousand Flowers Campaign to see what ideas people have about attracting people to the shores of Hockey Field Lake Burley Griffin. The Nepostisticly named George Lasek is seeking innovative ideas from small business people to see what ideas can be stymied over the next financial year through a varied means of bureaucratic bungling, laziness and ineptitude. Here is a link
This, to me is an interesting thing the NCA seem to be doing, On the one hand they are soliciting for ideas that will bring the people to the foreshore, then a quick look at their website, reveals a call for the people at the lake to stop feeding the birds. Although the environmental awareness is to be applauded, perhaps an NCA sponsored, profits to charity exercise, selling NCA approved feed to the bird feeding public would be an idea? Or perhaps ensuring that the algal blooms were kept to minimum at least. Perhaps I best start writing a business model..
But for me, there will be nothing like gondola rides around the Lake, in a boat named Red Tape Warrior that will be sunk after one particularly loud, end of financial year party by an overzealous city ranger, trying to ensure that the ACT ‘boc-boc’ logo is not obscuring a Federal Government logo on the prow.
