Alistair Coe Stands Up!

Alistair Coe put an intriguing media release up last night.

Not the “Blah Blah, Labor Bad, Blah Blah, Greens Bad, Blah Blah, Buses”. That’s pretty much par for the course.

Much more intriguing is the way young Alistair is aping Liberal HQ’s use of language.

It was only yesterday at midday that Tony Abbott started describing the Labor-Green pact as a “coalition” and yet Alistair’s picked up the phrase for use in the ACT right away.

Better than that, Alistair is now keen on “Real Action”. (C’mon, sing along at home, link your arms and wave your illuminated mobile phone screen in the air “Stand up Australia, Stand Up for Real Action“).

No less than four times in the release do we get “real action”. Three up the top and then one further down to get the message through:

GREENS LACK REAL ACTION ON BUS NETWORK

For all the talk, the Greens have achieved very little real action on buses, even with a signed agreement with their coalition partners, Shadow Minister for Transport, Alistair Coe said today.

“I find it remarkable Ms Bresnan has come up with such a shallow and glib line about all three parties working together, when as a coalition partner with the government, her party has achieved very little in real action and reform,” Mr Coe said.

It’s particularly twee with the bus network being called “ACTION” and all innit?

So are all Liberals being programmed by transmissions from the mast of Parliament House? Or is Alistair just particularly keen?

Is finding the words “real action” all you can get out of the media release? He also used “real progress” in the release, is that bad too?

it’s just that he realises that he’ll never get to the Big House as the two canberra seats are as they are. He’d have to move or be parachuted in by the Party Honchos…

So ranting in opposition in local government is all he can ever hope for.

Not only are the slogans bad, but I think there is an unnecessary coma in the first paragraph!!!!!!

Actually, put me into a deepzzzzzzzz, oh sorry. Alistair, the great Liberal hope. Did you know he’s going to save the Coalition on his own? And find the missing 7-12 billion Ken Henry couldn’t.

Oh what a witty chap he is, what a clever play on words, what a talent.

What concerns me more than this though, is the co opting of the Labor slogan by AFL coaches. I am sick to death of heraing about teams ‘moving forward’

People have been quietly describing the local Labor-Greens alliance as a coalition of sorts for over a year now (it’s those promises of blocking no confidence motions that triggers these accusations). I actually thought the feds picked it up from here or Tassy – Abbot certainly didn’t invent the concept.

Somebody should tell them the election is over.

Mr Coe is not the only ACT Lib that has been copying “catchphrases” from those on the big hill. Zed also has been heard to use the words “Reckless Spending”. The ACT Libs even ran election ads in support of Mr Abbott’s campaign. They really should think carefully about following the lead from their Commonwealth cousins…after all Mr Abbott plans includes job cuts in Canberra!
