The ABC reports on a tough six year prison stint for Patrick Tate handed down by our visiting acting Justice John Nield.

The four offences were committed while serving periodic detention for earlier burglaries.

Rocket Surgeon Tate was breaking windows and cutting himself, leaving DNA evidence aplenty.

In sentencing, acting Justice John Nield said he does not believe Tate is remorseful for his actions and doubts he has good prospects for rehabilitation.

He was sentenced to six years jail with a non-parole period of four years.

That bloke must have rooted Terry’s cat as well. Nothing else would have done it.

Now thats bloody funny and unfortunately true

Seconded.

If someone breaks the law (in a way that harms or affects others), and pleads the “I’m so sorry I won’t do it again” thing and gets a 2nd chance, and then bloody does it again, that’s it. They did it again, do something about them.

To be fair, CJ Higgins gave a prolific burglar a sentence of 6 years less than a year ago.

You have to wonder how many houses he was knocking over for every one he was bleeding in.

You’d think if he was cutting himself every single time he’d change his methods.

Lets hope young Bradley gets a turn in front of the good judge.

Now there’s a thought.

I’d pay pots of gold to see that happen!

Gold 🙂

On topic, I can’t believe this guy was leaving DNA evidence around willy nilly. Hasn’t he seen CSI?

Don’t get too excited, he’s only handing out sentences that the law permits. He’s only doing what he should be doing. Terry should *hic* watch

If the judge stays, then it’s clealy just a matter of time.

Sounds like he’s just the sort of person who deserves a “second chance”.!

Unless he already has had a second chance (or third, or fourth…..). If he has been given that chance before and squandered it then I say lock him up for as long as possible.

Is your partner “truly” sorry for what he/she has done? Are they “rehabilitatable”?? If so, good luck. If not, well …….. what can I say !!!! Hopefully something happens to change his/her ways.

yeah, he is, hes activly sought treatment in fixing his probblems and he is doing so well, Hopefully Sir Judge will see that he has changed his ways and is ready to face community as a law obiding citizen free of drug dependance and criminal association. The AMC is full of the stuff he is trying to avoid. So community is our next step

Sounds like he’s just the sort of person who deserves a “second chance”. Jail is really only good for keeping scum who will never reform locked up . And teaching apprentice scum the ways of the criminal underworld.

Good luck to both of you!

Here’s hoping we have a success story here 🙂

Judge Neild for President!

This is the best thing to come out of the ACT court system in years. Good on Da Judge.

I for one welcome our new judicial overlord. I must say this is such a feel good story, thank you Judge Neild!

One less fuckwit on our streets for at least 4 years…good to see this story – almost reaffirmed my faith in the judiciary. Let’s have more of it.

Is there any chance that Justice Nield would be willling to leave his DNA so that we can reproduce him to take the place of the remaining Judiciary?

Perhaps a breeding program? I understand they are fairly successful. We need more of this guy!!!!
