Comedy Club at Civic Pub will be entering it’s 3rd year of being the best regular comedy club night in the capital on June 1, with a huge line-up featuring interstate and international guests.
Headling the night will be one of the country’s freshest up-and-comers, Karl Chandler, who is touted as one of the best writers of a joke in Australia.
His jokes are clever, funny and packaged in a nice round number, unlike many of today’s performers who don’t even count their jokes. Forget those jerks.
With a style likened to Steven Wright, Mitch Hedberg and Demetri Martin, there’s no long-winded stories here. Just razor-sharp ideas, word-play plus a few stupid jokes.
Karl Chandler is a regular writer/performer on Channel 31’s award-winning Studio A, has appeared on ABC774, and on Foxtel’s Standup Australia, and has written for Rove, The White Room and the Comedy Channel.
“Punchlines served up thick and fast…My face was sore from smiling.” – The Age
Canadian comic and impro star Derek Flores will also be starring as a special guest on the night.
The night will be hosted by special guest Tommy Dassalo from Melbourne, and will feature support slots from some of Canberra’s finest comedians: Jay Sullivan, Tom Gibson, Shiralee Hood and James Priest.
All tickets $10. Available from www.comedyact.com.au or else take a chance on still being able to get them at the door on the night.
Wednesday 1 June. Upstairs at Civic Pub, 8 Lonsdale Street, Braddon. Doors 7:30pm for 8:00pm show start.
