Gary Humphries joins the Liberal immigration rebels

Labor is arguing for more efficient administration of mandatory detention.

I’m arguing for no detention until guilt is proven in a court.

The liberal rebels started out on my side of the argument, drifted past labour, and are now heading back to the mothership.

Well, to be fair to the other (Labor) MPs, the policy now being put forward by the Liberal is essentially the same as that proposed by the Labor Party for the 2004 election.

So really, their views are already clear.

Funny how you only get credit for doing something you aren’t expected to — eg. Labor embracing deregulation in the 80s/90s, Liberal showing that they can be compassionate after all, etcetera etcetera.
