Summer may have been a little slow off the mark but it has certainly heated up and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. This week, you might like venturing to a winery for a show, or rediscovering your body’s abilities with Praksis.
For those who like to venture outside, there is no shortage of musical events and talks and, if you walk around the city at night you can feel the vibe returning.
It is still a challenging time for events, so you might still see the odd cancellation – check the official sources for the most up-to-date information – but summer is drawing to a close, so get out there.

Now that the market has returned after its big move, there’ll be weekend music to entertain the whole family. Take a moment to savour your coffee and listen to the catchy tunes performed by Lucky Jim on Saturday, and the fabulous gipsy jazz selection performed by Mathew Dennet and the Belco Jazz Band on Sunday.

Tony Knight directs this much-loved comedy about love overcoming adversity. It’s full of mistaken identities, wandering jesters and enchanted forests. Don’t worry about your sour high school Shakespeare memories, this will be tons of fun with lots of local references.
Lakespeare is an independent theatre company on a mission to make theatrical culture accessible to Canberrans and beyond. Their summer season includes many free outdoor performances. Admission is free. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen.
