For the Sportscraft Spring Summer 2011 collection, colour is here! One of the hottest spring trends worldwide, Sportscraft have embraced this fashion phenomenon and captured the essence of a vibrant new season.
The season launches with a beautiful palette of cosmetic tones, ranging from warm neutrals through to strong blushes and watermelons. And to compliment, a collection of pretty floral and soft animal prints in silk and cotton shirting and blouses, as well as lightweight cardis and dresses.
Also key to kicking off a new season is establishing a wardrobe foundation. It’s about the must-have pieces that are the building blocks for the perfect spring wardrobe. Items such as the Cotton Nylon Capri, the Linen Shirt, the White Denim Jean, the Allyce Liberty Shirt and the Clemintine Printed Cardi are the wardrobe staples for Spring.
The month of September sees the continuation of strong colour combinations. Themed “Where Earth Meets Sky’, the mixture of cool blues and punchy peacocks, back with earthy tones and brick red, really captures the feel of the Australian landscape. Key items here are the Dionne Red Blazer, Nancy Midnight Blue Jersey Dress as well as the fun and vibrant Evette Print Dress.
Polka dots are a key statement, featured in key pieces such as the Shirley Spot Print Cardi, the Paige Polka Dot Shirt and the Courtney Maxi Dress, a new style for Sportscraft. The collection also receives an injection of fun, fresh, exploded florals in an addictive colour palette of fresh coral and aqua, particularly in cotton and linen shirts.
The October collection features a nod to all things ethnic, with a strong play on prints and colour, particularly in the Tarnee Print Dress and Skirt. Colour highlights of strawberry and poppy work well set back against fresh white capris or navy shorts, and the Veronique Silk Dress is a great dressed up option.
The November and December collections see a step change into holiday/resort dressing as well as an introduction into the festive season.
The November collection features vibrant colours in bright orange and caspian blue offset by strong Ikat prints and splashes of white. Ensuring key pieces from the resort collection are noted, Sportscraft have created a ‘holiday hot list’, consisting of the sequin kaftan, bright tee, novelty print short, essential beach bag and the must-have gold sandal.
December sees the introduction of ‘pool cool’ with a serene colour palette of ocean greens and blues. This is offset by a touch of festive red and ‘gold rush’ to celebrate Christmas.
The accessories collection for Spring really complements the apparel collection in texture and colour. Scarves add the ultimate touch of print and colour, ranging from soft florals to vibrant colour blocking and everything in between. Our range of handbags in leather feature the multi purpose mini bag in neutrals and pop colours, the hobo and larger tote, also reflecting the strong colour palette. Straw and beach totes are a fun addition to the Spring Summer wardrobe. Footwear sees new styles such as weave ballets and wedges, as well as metallic sandals for high summer.
The menswear collection mirrors womenswear in it’s intensity of colour and prints. Colour is primarily seen through a broad range of check and print shirts in cotton and linen. Bottom of body plays a great neutral base, with exceptions such as the Camo Short and boardshorts.
Father’s Day is a key time for Sportscraft and our extensive range of polos in a great array of vibrant colours matched back with core and fashion shorts, make great wardrobe additions.
Towards high summer, fun print linen shirts are introduced that are wearable and stylish. Shorts in checks and colours are a nod to resort and of course boardshorts are a summer essential.
Sportscraft’s Spring Summer collection will be available in Sportscraft stores, David Jones and selected Myer stores and online at www.sportscraft.com.au nationally in August.
