Cat of the Week: Tipsy
Tipsy is a wonderful example of a common adoptable cat scenario here and at most animal shelters. She’s sweet and gentle but completely shy and withdrawn due to the changes in her life and her new, noisy and busy temporary home.
But she’s going to be OK. Promise. We have thousands of examples of similar cats to prove it. We even have a foster carer who only requests “Spicy kittens”, the ones who start off spitting and end up being cuddle monsters who love people.
It’s all about the consistency and affection we can show them.
Tipsy, once placed in a calm household with regular interactions, her own space and regular feeding and grooming, will become a wonderful companion housecat for the next two decades.
Most cat owners are already aware of all this, but just in case you weren’t, come and see Tipsy.
It’s said, “The shelter animal chooses you”. Maybe she’ll pick you?

Dog of the Week: Xena
Sometimes, we choose the dog of the week because they did something funny or we scored a cool photograph of them, but Xena is the dog of the week for that friendly face! Look at her!
Dog’s smile. It’s a fact. But Xena’s smile is something else; it’s almost constant and warms your heart.
The thing about this smile is why? Why would a dog who’s presumably lost her original owners for whatever reason and ended up with 50 other loud dogs all in the same place be smiling?
These are the dogs you should adopt. They find joy and want to share it with humans, regardless of circumstances. We are quite proud of the many adult dogs here with smiles. Come and see.
Pawnotes: Thanks for all your support of the RSPCA ACT. We’ll never stop trying and we can’t do it without your help! And remember, when the temperature is high, limit your dog walking to early in the morning or late in the evening.
Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
