Tuggeranong Community Arts (TCA) is seeking women from Canberra’s Islamic community to be part of a very special arts and cultural project to be held on Sundays (10.30am-4.30pm) over 4 weeks in from 12 October to 2 November at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre media studio.
“The Digital Storytelling workshop will be a great opportunity for women from Canberra’s diverse Islamic community to celebrate, embrace and express their rich cultural heritage” says Eulea Kiraly, TCA’s Community Arts Officer.
The workshop will also encourage women from a range of backgrounds and experiences to develop and share their stories with other members of the group in a supportive and creative environment.
Digital Storytelling is a powerful form of personal expression which allows participants to tell their stories to the broader community, as well as exploring their own creativity. Each storyteller’s unique stories and photographs are captured with digital media and compiled using computers, cameras and scanners. They will be guided in the process and learn how to develop a story, record a personal voiceover and learn basic photo manipulation and film editing tools. The product will be a 3-4 minute digital story about a significant moment in their lives. Stories will have a premiere screening at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre on 9 December.
The workshop is free to the selected participants, thanks to the support of the Australia Council of the Arts and the Canberra Islamic Centre. “No prior experience is necessary, though basic computer skills are handy,” explains Kiraly.For further information or to be considered for this project, please contact:
