It appears that the ACT Govt is once again going to skip/bypass/ignore/lose/forget their own planning regulations. The Greens have asked the question about where the environmental assessment for the expansion of the Zoo is and according to this ABC story the Govt seems to have lost it.

Pity there are no trees there for STR to chain themselves too.

and exactly how much money is the commercial zoo paying for the government land ?

just wait for the pamphlet in your mail “please donate to STR so we can buy some trees to plant outside the aquarium, so we can chain ourselves to them to protest !

a river flowing from a lake which receives the untreated stormwater of 100,000 people and two light indutrial areas?

Aside from the whole “thin end of the wedge” argument, it’s also the fact that they’re talking about a very large expansion of a facility that sits right on the river there. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, just that there are genuine environmental things to be considered.

Thin edge of the wedge, matter of principle you see.

wouldn’t you think the Greens had better things to worry out than the environmental impacts on a stretch of burned out pine plantation?
