Puente Austral is a non-profit organisation which is managed and run by volunteers to raise funds to support rural Argentine schools. They fund projects such as establishing vegetable gardenS, and bakeries for schools, and also sponsor those schools by sending textbooks, school material (pens, pencils, and notebooks), heaters, fans and other items that are in need. They sponsored three schools and funded seven projects since July 2005.

All profits from this event will go to build schools in a remote areas of Argentina.

Advance booking is essential – unfortunately they’re not set up to take orders on the day.

The asado will be at the same venue as the Tango Social Club of Canberra practica on Saturday — St Johns Church Hall. So you can get some sustenance, then practice!

Oops I hit ‘save’ too soon. I meant to say that as well as being part of this tango festival (which is a minority pursuit), the asado is open to the public — red meat eating being a majority pursuit.

So, you can also book directly with Puente Austral at by 19 September.

BTW Puente Austral put all their effort into the food. Plastic cutlery will be provided with the meal, but I recommend bringing
your own knife to enjoy the meat fully!

And if you’re interested in tango, you can hang around afterwards and have a look at us muddling our way through, weighed down by culturally appropriate quantities of meat.

Argentinian food is bloody good. There’s been a regular stall at the Kingston markets for years that gets regularly mobbed. I like those Epamanda pie things.

Mmmmmmmmmm red meat drooooool
