Apologies for the delay with this wrap, as I’ve been suffering from either a hangover or heatstroke for the last few days. The Australian Mountain Bike Championships at Stromlo Forest Park was a huge event this year – even bigger & better than last year. Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC) claimed the homeground advantage, with local riders taking the lions share of the trophies – check the results.
It was a hot weekend, but thankfully nowhere near as dusty as last year, thanks to the recent rain and semi-established native shrubbery. Riders highly praised the tweaked downhill course, which was faster, yet more technical this year offering thrills and challenges for all riders. The XC races featured new tracks which offered riders new ways to burst their lungs. So it looks like CORC have stepped up another level in preparation for the world cup round later in the year.
