News from police often comes with a shiver, a tear, and at times fear, this weekend it comes with a laugh.
At about 9.30 yesterday morning (June 15) two Belted Galloway cattle were being transported in a hired horse float when it stopped at a set of traffic lights in Batemans Bay.
One of the steers pushed through the front door of the horse float and out into downtown Batemans Bay, causing traffic havoc according to police.
From there the steer came in the front doors of the Batemans Bay Police Station and into the public foyer.
“Police thought the steer may have been reporting on Bail, however, it was soon established that he was looking for a bale,” The Rural Crime – NSW Police Facebook page jokes.
“Police then gave the steer a Moooooooove-on direction.”
Coincidently Rural Crime Investigators from the South Coast, Camden, Hume, and Monaro Police Districts were conducting a rural crime related operation in and around Batemans Bay at the time.
“With the assistance of Rural Crime Prevention Team Investigators, local Police, the owner of the steer, and Eurobodalla Shire Council Rangers the steer was eventually yarded and reloaded back onto the trailer uninjured,” police report.
“Whilst the owner was a little embarrassed he was very thankful for the assistance.”
