When Jane Pettersen opened fashion boutique Pink in Braddon, she was surrounded by car yards and the grunge of the city.

Jane was the first trader in the area and her challenge was to stand out.

The answer? Paint the shop the prettiest pink possible and create a powerful girl’s playground smack in the middle of a very established ‘boy zone’.

Fast forward 18 years and Jane has spearheaded many exciting and rewarding changes with Pink. Eight years ago, the shop moved from one side of Lonsdale Street to the other, settling in at Mode3. Pink has reinvented itself several times and collaborated with Canberra creatives to run exciting fashion shows, high-end photoshoots and other events.

What has never changed is Pink’s distinct culture and Jane’s passion for running a luxury retail space that provides an empowering and iconic experience for women in the capital.

Pink has been at the forefront of change in Canberra’s fashion scene since it opened, and Jane has always been prepared to take risks curating collections.

“It’s been such an inspired journey, for myself, for my colleagues, and our clients,” says Jane.

Today, Pink is for sale. Not because the shop isn’t a smashing success. It’s because Jane believes it’s time for a new owner to take over and add their stamp to Pink, catapulting it to the next level.

“Pink is more relevant than ever, encouraging women to feel amazing in their working lives, personal lives and themselves,” she said.

Jane Pettersen Jane is giving a new owner a wonderful opportunity to take over the reins at Pink.

Jane’s head is jam-packed with fond memories of the evolution of Pink, and creativity runs through Jane’s blood – she’s not one for sitting still. Ideas are already in the pipeline for the next chapter of her life, although Jane admits that her new adventures won’t involve retail.

In the meantime, she’s working with Holly Komorowski, founder of Home.byholly, on the sale of the business.

Holly says buying an iconic and commercially viable business like Pink is a rare and exciting opportunity.

“Pink is a highly reputable and enduring business, one of the longest-standing retail operations in the busy Braddon Precinct,” says Holly.

“It has amazing street frontage, a prime, exclusive location and is arguably in one of the most sought-after spots in the city.”

Holly says the sale is perfect for someone who wants to be “the new Pink”.

“The purchaser will be buying a business that has changed, adapted and reinvented itself to keep up with the times,” says Holly. “Jane is a courageous inventor who has built a large, strong and loyal clientele. Everyone knows Pink. And now Jane is giving a new owner a wonderful opportunity to take over the reins.”

Pink’s sale is an expression of interest campaign, closing on 3 May. Enquiries should be directed to Holly at Holly@homebyholly.com.au.
