7.30pm, Tuesday 19 May 2009
Community Room above the Chandler Street Belconnen Library
The Belconnen Community Council invites Belconnen residents and interested citizens to a public meeting with the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services and Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS). The presentations are about the progress to date of the creation of new regional COMMUNITY CENTRES at the former HOLT and COOK school sites. TAMS are creating Community Parks and Playgrounds on those sites and are conducting community consultations on their plans for these sites.
Janet McKinney of NationsHeart, Belconnen, will detail a number of growing community projects including a Food Bank, community meals, groups for children with disabilities, in particular autism, and groups for adult disabled/elderly people.
For more information, please call (02) 6254 9944 or email email@example.com
The Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services (DHCS) will present an update on progress of the Regional Community Facilities and Neighbourhood Halls project. In particular, DHCS would like to receive community feedback on plans for Neighbourhood Halls and Regional Community Centres at Cook and Holt.
Parks, Conservation and Lands (PCL) within the Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) would like to present and receive feedback from the Belconnen Community Council about the draft Landscape Plans and Park Sketch Plans for the design of the proposed community parks at Cook and Holt former school sites. The Landscape Plans show the location of the community parks, while the Park Sketch Plans show more detail about the park indicating what is proposed for each site eg play space, fitness equipment, barbeques, picnic structures etc and where it would be located. Comments from Belconnen Community Council on the draft plans are most welcome.
