The ABC confirms that troubled local carrier Brindabella Airlines is in fact a dead parrot:

Up to 140 staff at Brindabella Airlines have been stood down after the regional carrier went into receivership.

Staff have been told they will not be receiving any redundancy payments.

The Canberra-based airline is millions of dollars in debt and is now for sale.

All flights have been suspended indefinitely, disrupting the Christmas travel plans of hundreds of customers.
