Canberra CBD are letting the world know about the extravaganza of summer fun they’re bringing to City Walk for their Christmas Carnival In The City:

Civic Square, City Walk and Garema Place will be transformed into an adventure playground as Canberra CBD Limited brings Christmas cheer to the City.

Bungee trampolines, camel rides, bumper boats and rock climbing are just some of the activities that will be scattered around the City for people to enjoy – free of charge.

Canberra CBD Limited CEO Stephen Gregory is looking forward to bringing some excitement to the City to really create a festive spirit.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing some fun and excitement into the City during the festive season,” said Mr Gregory.

“There are plenty of rides and activities to cater for everyone and the best part about it all is that it is completely free.”

“All we want is for people to come into the city and have some fun in the lead up to Christmas. It’ll be a great opportunity to entertain the kids during shopping trips to the City, or to just have some extra fun while out and about during the festive season.”

With bumper boats and water balls part of the main attraction, Royal Life Saving Australia ACT will be on hand to offer assistance and advice on water safety for the upcoming summer months.

I love the harmony of olfactory convergence as I, and the camels, wander past Subway in opposite directions.

Hats off to Canberra CBD for doing this. (But please “hats on” to those participating, to avoid sunburn).

Are the chuggers near the fountain part of the free entertainment? Can I ride them?

What a great idea.

If they want to drag people out and away from the air conditioned shopping centres, this is what will do it. Particularly with this bit: “free of charge”.

Exactly. The problem with the ice skating they have is that its much too expensive, particularly for kids who just want to have a short try.

Although ‘free of charge’ usually means ‘long lines’. A nominal payment ($2 or so) might actually make things more attractive. No one dropping their kids off in Civic for 3 hours while they have their nails done, or whatever.

Imagine if some people were silly enough to also bring foam and other toy weapons and have naval battles…

In the nerfy.
