There’s nothing like a spicy laksa to warm you from head to toe on a cold, rainy, Canberra day.
Baan Latsamy in Manuka is one of my favourite lunch spots, and I get the same thing every time I go – chicken laksa. It’s always consistent and delicious. The head chef and co-owner of the restaurant, Latsamy, knows what she is doing!
The weekday lunch special is pretty decent. You can choose from eight different dishes including laksa, various curries, pad thai, satay chicken, and roast duck. The meal comes with your choice of a glass of house wine, soft drink or tea, and all for $14.90.
I ordered my laksa as takeaway, and it was ready within ten minutes. I didn’t get a drink with my order – I didn’t notice until after I had left so I’m not sure whether the drink option doesn’t apply to takeaway, or if they just forgot to include it by mistake. Ah well, a glass of tap water never hurt anybody.
I’m not a laksa expert, but this is really decent laksa by my standards. Fresh and crispy greens, lots of perfectly cooked chicken, plentiful noodles including the best part – crunchy noodles on top!
Even though I got my lunch takeaway, I’ve dined in on many instances before and it’s a very nice place to eat. It’s not noisy, the waitstaff are attentive and friendly, it’s decorated nicely, and the service is very quick. I’ll be back, I always am!
