As part of the Canberra Festival a number of events around Civic and Commonwealth park were on yesterday (Saturday 13th).
Commonwealth Park saw the Celebrate in the park event which had heaps of rides catering for the younger generation, Roary the racing car shows and various bands including Eskimo Joe. More food stalls than you could poke a stick at and plenty of room to go around.
Civic saw the Flip art festival. Two stages were set up in Garema Place with an acrobatics display and a Latin band. There were plenty of side show antics going on as well. I saw an awesome dinosaur trying to munch on anyone who got close enough, scaring little kids into hiding behind bins and parents. The alien had some funky dance moves and the wasp and red back spider prowled the crowds.
The events were really good although fell down on advertising and as such didnt attract large crowds. They were expecting 40,000 people and maybe got 4,000. People on the stands were mooching around looking for something to do.
