Every year in October, Riesling producers from the major Riesling producing regions of the world send their wines to Canberra to compete in the Canberra International Riesling Challenge, the largest Riesling event in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest in the world.
Unlike most wine shows, the Challenge only allows entries from a single grape variety – Riesling – the Queen of Grapes. Riesling is the most versatile of the grape varieties, making wines that vary from dry wines to sweet deserts wines and aperitifs.
When the judging is done, and the winners have been announced, the Challenge is opened up for you to come and taste these amazing wines. For four glorious hours armed with your Riedel tasting glass and a results catalogue you can travel the world of Riesling and compare wines from across the world.
As the largest collection of Riesling assembled in the Southern Hemisphere in 2023, this is your opportunity to taste Rieslings from the best Riesling regions of the world.
