This year’s aptly themed Heritage Festival is back from the 6th April onwards.

Themed ‘REIMAGINE’, as many event holders have had to completely redesign and reconfigure their usual offerings in line with COVID requirements.

Our heritage is irreplaceable, say festival organisers, and continues to form who and what we are as a community. It represents our legacy, informs our present and shapes the future.

Nonetheless, over 15 diverse events will take place across the Canberra region including workshops, tours, talk, suburban walks, virtual events and more. Now in its 38th year, the Festival raises awareness of the ongoing need to celebrate and highlight our natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage.

It also aims to connect you to places, objects and cultural traditions that are undertaken in our community everyday that you may not even be aware of.

Due to COVID-restrictions, many of the events require bookings, so make sure you get in early and book your spot!

Alternatively, many events can be accessed virtually, allowing attendees to soak up Canberra’s rich and varied past through the medium of the digital age.

The Details:

What: Heritage Festival.
When: 6 – 26 April.
Where: Various locations around Canberra, some events are virtual.
Cost: Varies.
