NineMSN are reporting on the 8 week ban that Raiders role model and Captain, Simon Woolford, copped for his latest indiscretion.

The grade two charge carried an initial ban of three matches but due to Woolford’s abysmal record which included six prior offences, the suspension blew out to six games with an early plea and eight if he contested it and lost.

Demonstrating the wisdom and foresight which one would expect from the club, Raiders management are shocked and suprised.

I knew all but Thompson and Cross, the rest were off the player profiles at nrl.com… it said Hindmarsh was born at Bowral.

For Bulldog, Robertson is at the top of the escarpment before Macquarie Pass (the road from Moss Vale to Wollongong). Robertson is best known for its awesome pie shop, being where Babe was filmed and being home to the Big Potato that looked like a giant turd…

I don’t think your too far off the mark Diane.

Ralph, where the hell is Robertson?

Ian Hindmarsh is from Robertson. My cousin plays hockey with his sister.

Whingeford is a born and bred Young Cherrypicker…

The closest you get to Canberra born and bred Raiders are Matt Gafa, Troy Thompson, Linc Withers and Terry Martin.

Others from the region include Toots Croker from Crookwell, Ian Hindmarsh from Bowral, Terry Campese from Struggletown, Todd Carney from Goulburn, Ben Cross and Mick Weyman from the Bay and Moruya and a few others from Wagga, Forbes, Parkes etc.

I have always thought of woolford as your typical canberra dumb jock…not that I know the bloke…. whereas previous captains have always seemed a little more I don’t know – dignified maybe

I ten to agree and have been told that the NRL will look at the grading levels at the end of the season.

In the mean time (although it smells) I’m not sorry to see the end of Germ for another year.

Similar tackle by Jason Stevens was only classed as a grade 1.

Even though Woolford had it coming, the ruling does smell a bit. Particularly given that Morley and Stevens keep getting slaps on the wrist (2 weeks at best).

Another stellar performance by the Germ. What truly inspirational stuff and a shining example for children everywhere.

Although we should look on the bright side;
1) We can put a quality player in charge of the Raiders for the next eight weeks.
2) The Raiders will be in with a chance against the Eels as they won’t be giving away as many stupid penalties.
3) We all got to see Billy Slater get smashed.

Who should the Raiders be turning to for leadership on the paddock? Suggestions?

He had it coming.
