Good Eating in Fyshwick...

Can anyone help with recommendations for reasonably priced lunches in Fyshwick?

I’m after good, preferably fresh, takeaway food in the area and sub $15 dollars.

I’ve been to Subway, Cafeecibo, Zierholz, but just after something that is quick and won’t break the bank.

If you can find a car park! that is the only down fall with that place. Food is worth it though! also +1 Rolls Choice, Elaines and Noodles.

Other options are Creme Addiction on Kembla st, Industry cafe opposite Harvey Norman, cafe @ robbos used to be great not sure if they still are, cafe Cibo in the old DAS fleet complex (drive under Monaro highway along Newcastle st.

You can also go to DFO for Wok Me, Kebabs, Asian and a healthy style sandwich place.

Now to ones I don’t know the name of – hopefully you find them from the descriptions – the little take away beside the independent petrol station off Canberra Ave makes great rolls, there is also a small organic/fresh sandwich type shop on the corner of Canberra Ave and Geelong st (shares space with a water tank business) opposite the trady type take away.

Unfortunatley with Fyshwick you need a car to get to more than the immediate ones near your work.

Little Noodle Bar, or Sunrise Takeaway on Newcastle Street

Well done Holden #12

I was about to post about “eating out” in Fyshwick but you got there first!

Also very impressed we’ve gone at least 10 replies before someone has suggested dining at a brothel, haha.

Flutes and noodles are getting a good run

@Jivrashia: You sure can choose the level of chilli you want. I once decided to try Medium and regretted it immediately 🙂

Is that sandwich shop on Wollongong St near Canty’s books still there? had their sangers named after makes of cars, from memory. I always quite liked that, nice fresh stuff.

Rolls Choice.

It’s still there as far as I know. It used to be the bees knees, but then Blue Olive opened. Sadly, though, that’s not in Fyshwick so Rolls Choice does the trick from time to time.

Fish and chips from the Fyshwick markets is also not a bad option.

Struggling to see how anyone can think Elaine’s pies are expensive, too, but there you go. They’re very well priced IMO and generally very good. Assuming you’re not expecting a full gourmet pie.

I can also recommend Little Noodle Bar on Kembla Street (right near Zierholtz).

Apparently you can choose the level of chilly in some dish… (the owner told me). I haven’t been game to try the “Thai hot” level.

Kapital Kebab on Wollongong St is pretty good.

Had been wondering where they went after disappearing from the food courts in Canberra Centre. Something to look forward to the next time I’m in Fyshwick during lunch time.

Isa St Bakery was always a favourite when I worked in Fyshwick, don’t know if it is still there though.

Elaines Pies, next to them are alright – although probably over priced.

The Bakery next to those two is a good place to get a sandwich that diobeys the laws of physics.

There is a dodgey chinese takeaway place near the St George (Also on Wollongong St) that is good if you want something quick.

Buzz cafe is alright too.

Get a pie from Flute (across the road from Toyworld). You wont regret it 🙂

The noodle place on Kembla St does some good stuff

+1 for the pies at Flute.

I can also recommend Little Noodle Bar on Kembla Street (right near Zierholtz). Cheap, freshly prepared in front of you (or you can call ahead and walk down and it’ll be ready) and tasty as heck.

Go the Cha Shao Pork noodles and/or the deep fried pork balls 🙂

Ill second the flute. I also like Central Cafe (on the same strip as subway) for fast cheap takeaway food.
