The NCA is celebrating the 90th birthday of the remarkable Romaldo (‘Aldo’) Giurgola.
Back in the 1970s Aldo was an American architect approached to judge the design competition for New Parliament House. Instead he entered the competition, won it, and moved to Canberra where he’s been ever since, and an Australian citizen since 2000.
The NCA has planted a tree with him in the restored York Park at the head of Kings Avenue which is entirely suitable.
