Indulge in a three-course meal, drink champagne, and boogie the night away as you support sick kids across the Canberra community.

The Starlight Foundation Star Ball is coming up for its 17th year, an event that has raised more than $3.4 million for sick kids across Canberra.

Held on 19 October at the National Arboretum, the night is a way of bringing the community together to raise as much money as possible for children who spend their days fighting illness, and giving them something to look forward to.

Local insurance advisor, Allinsure has been contributing to the cause for 15 years with the milestone anniversary seeing them increase their commitment to Platinum Naming Partner.

The partnership is one the company’s managing director Peter Chamberlain says they care about deeply.

“We went to the ball to show our support back in the day and were cornered by Marg Job and the team to become partners and we couldn’t say no,” Peter says.

“It’s such a great organisation that does amazing things for so many sick kids in the community and since most of us are parents, we jumped on board.”

Peter says being able to see the outcome of the funds raised through the event in the Canberra community is amazing.

“We have been lucky enough to see the work Starlight does for the kids, with the rooms they set up for the patients; knowing we helped achieve that is something else,” Peter says.

The Allinsure team are looking forward to granting their 15th wish at this year’s Star Ball and helping make another dream come true for a local kid who is going through a challenging time.

Starlight Foundation committee member Aileen Brede says this year is set to be bigger and better than ever.

“We’re hoping it’s going to be the biggest event yet,” Aileen says.

“Every year it’s back-to-back fun; we have entertainment as you walk in the doors then it’s non-stop from there.”

Aileen says the event is all but a sell-out, however, there are still opportunities for potential sponsors to get involved.

“It’s such a great event, so much dancing and entertainment the whole night, plenty of raffles, great food and an all-around fantastic time with the money all going to a great cause.”

The night will have plenty of opportunities for people to donate and bid on some impressive items throughout the evening.

“What’s great about this year’s event is that all the items are available to bid for online so you can take part in the event without even being there.”

Make sure you follow Canberra Star Ball on social media to find the link to the auction.

Every dollar raised at the event goes directly back to the Starlight Foundation to help projects such as their recently renovated room at the Canberra Hospital.

Aileen says the best thing about the ball is seeing the money raised have a direct impact on local children.

“It’s a great community event but the real reward is seeing the faces of the kids when they have their wishes come true and their loved ones knowing we’ve helped make their lives a little easier,” Aileen says.

The event will be taking place on Saturday 19 October at the National Arboretum from 6:30 pm. To secure your sponsorship visit Starlight.
