Hughes Bakery – I surrender!

weeziepops 13 April 2010 10

I have developed an addiction.

Something about the Hughes Bakery keeps me going back far more times than is really good for my waistline or my cholesterol levels.  I am prepared to run the gauntlet of lycra clad cyclists in order to reach the counter and place an order.

I am even willing to weave my way through the wall of coffee enthusiasts who stand, silent and with arms crossed, grimly awaiting their caffeine fix.

Hughes Bakery do a great line in tarts and pastries, more than making up for the spartan decor, and the staff are almost all friendly and helpful.  I recommend the strawberry tart or pear brioche.

Speaking of posturing....

Mmmm that's some bakery indeed Danman, never went anywhere else when I was working the in the printing place behind it or lunching with my mum and her man there years aside.

Real men do not eat quiche. It's a bacon and egg pie.
