The Canberra Times brings word that the Transport Workers Union is demanding lots of juicy supervisor shifts for the coming night bus trial.

More useful, and perhaps more economical, would be hiring a security guard to ride on each of the buses.

But they don’t pay dues to the TWU.

You know, I reckon a bus security guard probably would be covered by the TWU.

TWU cover a lot of secutiry guards and yes you are correct.

It makes sense, Deref, but just for the driver. Still doesn’t do anything about the puking, pissing, brawling lowlifes at the back of the bus, though.

How about some kind of strong enclosure around the driver? Would that work?

Or handguns.

I started work when Bank of New South Wales was swapping its spots for Westpac stripes. There was a special form requesting ammo for the branch revolver. You submitted it as part of the stationery order.

Agree with their sentiment to have some form of security on the nightrider buses. Otherwise drivers and other passengers are sitting targets for all the drunken lowlifes.
