On Saturday 08-APR-06 we did the Civic Public Art Walking Tour and lived to tell the tale.

And so, I present to you item # 17, Pods by Matthew Harding. At the Binara St end of City Walk. Bear in mind that, doing the tour in order you’d have to hike all the way back from Gorman House to get here even though the earlier part of the tour was in Glebe Park.

Pods - by Matthew Harding

And having hiked all the way back you’d get a great view of a construction site. Lovely!

From the guide:

In a gully where a creek used to run, three
overgrown Casuarina seed pods appear to
have dropped out of a grove of Casuarina
trees and to be rolling down the grassy
slope. At night the seed pods are lit from
within by a gentle fi bre optic light.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen them lit either, but now you can’t see the giant bronze casuarina pods at all.
