Hi. This is my first time posting this forum. I am looking to renovate my kitchen on a reasonable budget. The kitchen currently has a basic exhaust fan above the stove. The fan was replaced a year so so ago with a good quality fan. At the same time the tubing on the roof side of the fan was cleared of the 30+ years up of grease. The exhaust fan has now been vented to the outside and no longer vented into the roof space. What are the pros and cons of keeping the existing unit? The exhaust fan has a beaten copper canopy surround/hood, no light and no filter. I was thinking of just replacing the surround with something more modern and having the wall cupboards built around the unit above replaced and a light installed above the stove.
